Four things matter more than the marketing:

  • Fee cut. The share of rewards the service keeps. Lower is better, all else equal.
  • Decentralization. How many independent operators run the validators. More is generally better for network health.
  • Integration. How widely accepted the receipt token is across lending apps, DEXes and derivatives.
  • Trust in the issuer. A centralized issuer like Coinbase has counterparty risk that a decentralized issuer does not.

Solana LSTs tend to yield more than their Ethereum cousins because the base staking rate is higher, plus tools like Jito capture MEV tips on top. The trade-off is that Solana has had multiple network outages over the years, which is its own form of risk.

How to actually pick

Skip the leaderboard framing. Ask three questions instead.

  1. Which network do I already hold? If your coins are ETH, use an ETH-based LST. If they're SOL, use a Solana one. Bridging just to chase a slightly higher yield is usually a bad idea.
